PANDI targets 1.5 million .id domains in 2026 while acting on tens of thousands of abusive URLs. High-risk sites can be suspended within 24 hours.

Domains ending in .id keep growing. According to Antara, there were 1,431,865 at the end of 2025, above the 1.35 million target. At the same time, PANDI — the .id registry — is stepping up action against online gambling and phishing sites.

Growth and targets

  • 1.43 million .id domains at the end of 2025; target 1.5 million in 2026.
  • Long-term target of 2.8 million domains by 2031 (Bisnis.com).
  • About a third are .my.id (±480,000), which along with .web.id and .biz.id is deliberately priced to be affordable.
  • .co.id stays pricier because it requires company documents.
  • Supported by 25 registrars and 47 anycast DNS servers.

32,535 problematic URLs acted on

In the first half of 2026, PANDI acted on 32,535 problematic URLs, as reported by Kompas:

TypeURLs
Online gambling24,523
Phishing6,491
Malware961

By domain type, most were on second-level .id (18,699), followed by .my.id (2,037) and .biz.id (1,326).

How PANDI monitors

PANDI uses its IDADX platform to scan live sites. High-risk sites get 24 hours to be cleaned up before the domain is suspended automatically. Since 17 March 2026 PANDI has also worked with the Trusted Notifier Network to speed up reports (Antara). PANDI admits it still finds forged documents during registrant verification.

The risk for legitimate owners

Many gambling pages are planted on legitimate websites that have been hacked — through outdated plugins, weak passwords, or leaked hosting accounts. Owners often don't notice until the domain is suspended. With a 24-hour deadline, an owner who reads email slowly can lose the website within a day.

Prevention steps

  1. Update your CMS, themes, and plugins regularly; remove unused ones.
  2. Use strong passwords and two-step verification for your hosting panel, CMS, and registrar account.
  3. Check periodically with a site:yourdomain.id search on Google — unfamiliar gambling-related pages are a sign of a hack.
  4. Keep your registrant data and documents (especially for .co.id) valid.
  5. Watch emails from your registrar and PANDI — suspension warnings are sent there.
